Stem Cells.
Standard teaching is that ovaries come into the world with a limited number of oocytes.
If chemotherapy or radiotherapy destroys them, nothing can be done to restore ovarian function.
Research has recently been done on mice to look for possible ovarian stem cells.
These were isolated and grown in culture.
The ovaries were then blasted with chemotherapy.
The possible germ cells were injected and ovarian function returned.
Including normal fertility.
Magic!
If this can be reproduced in humans it opens wonderful possibilities.
